Not the best part of waking up
“Emotionally painful dreams are a wonderful way to start a weekend.”
So, yeah: Saturday morning I woke up from what had seemed a fairly pleasant dream, albeit with some confusing activity in the background. Then came the realization that it was just a dream — one with the chimerae of possibilities, both past and present. So, yeah, waking up to the realization that my subconscious had just participated in a practical joke was not fun.
But what was real, and far less fun was waking up to a police officer shouting, …Police! Stop right now or I’ll taze you! Paraphrasing from a memory formed when half-asleep, of course. Thirty or forty feet from where I was — at that point — trying to sleep there was a suspect being stopped, questioned, arrested, and hauled off in a car that had shown up with a second officer. After which point the arresting officer then had to get his car and load up the bicycle the suspect had. All of that took 30 minutes or so, and then it was over.
My adrenaline rush, however, took quite a bit longer to fade. I didn’t sleep all that well after that, and soon enough my alarms (first the clock, then FluffMonster) were telling me it was time to get up.
Here’s hoping next weekend’s mornings are calmer…
